Crystal TMC Meeting Keynotes 10 Feb 2014

"Gong Xi Fa Cai"
Let us welcome the year of Horse and gallop together into abundance, prosperity and good health. All Crystal ladies put on their best Cheongsam outfit and attend the meeting enthusiastically. Yes……It is time for all Crystal angels to get together and reunited at the beginning of the year 2014.
President Linda Phoon kick start the meeting by sharing a few auspicious symbols of the Chinese New Year as below:
“Mui Fa”                      -      Plum Blossom represents courage and hope
“Hong Bao”                 -     Red envelope represents good fortune
“Mandarin Orange” -     Represents luck and wealth
“Spring Couplets”    -     Represent Good Luck and Good Fortune
We are grateful to have a dynamic, passionate and helpful lady, ACB ALB Emily Bong to be the Toastmasters of the Evening. She started off the meeting by encouraging all attendees to use auspicious sentences to greet the person sitting beside. She further emphasised the meaning of “Reunion” and cited that it is an important Chinese culture which was inherited from our ancestor until today. To add some perks to the meeting, she prepared a few small gifts as a bait to fish the history of Toastmasters International from the audiences. Bravo TME Emily Bong.

Our Veteran guiding angel, ACG Tan Saw Bee enthusiastically volunteer herself to be the impromptu humour master. She smartly relates her humour session by reminding us to be prudent on the Chinese New Year open house’s date.
Our veteran member, CTM CL Sue Ellen stands in well into the Table Topic Session by tailoring a few question relating to Chinese New Year. All speakers voluntarily took the challenge and performed steadily before the audience. For example, on the first day of Chinese New Year, TM Lily accidentally locked the house and opt for no choice but to use the hammer to knock the padlock in order to get into her house. DTM Deborah Leong recalled her sweet and romantic memories on Chinese Valentine Day (Chop Goh Mei). CC CL Ng Siew Tho having her reunion dinner at a Korean Restaurant due to no reservation from Chinese Restaurant. CC Linda Phoon celebrated the Chinese New Year second day with her brother through the fun of cooking. CTM CL Sharon Lam wishes everybody Happy birthday on the seventh day of Chinese New Year which is also known as all human beings’ birthday.

Our first assignment speaker, TM Datin Matilda secretly told us about her love affairs. All attendees were eagerly waiting for her to disclose further but was caught in surprise in the end to find out her actual love affairs was in relation to literature and music. What a disappointment ……………  J

TM Pua Yu Min prompted us of our real identity in Social Media by asking the question: “Which are you in the arena of Social Media?”
Are you The Professional Advertiser who participates actively in Instagram to get the most likes and followers?
Are you The Stalker who actively check and give comments in every posting?
Or................
Are you the CNN News Anchor who dutifully report your daily encountering to the world?
The impact of social media in our daily life is unimaginable. It is like a drug impeded into our soul. It eroded our mind unconsciously. Hope this speech served as a wake-up call to those who indulged themselves into social media.

ACS ALS Irene Lee makes a report on how to keep your children safe. She stressed that every human being is somebody’s child or parent. She hopes to use social media to educate the public on how to keep their child safe from all possible dangers.

All evaluators praised the speakers for a job well done and provided room of improvement for them to excel further. Our General Evaluator, DTM ThiagarajhNesan especially liked the dressing of all ladies. He cited that dressing is an unspoken word in Toastmasters. He is very much respectful on dressing. He also shared with us on how to use Microsoft Office to improve our spoken and written English language.
