Keynotes for the meeting on 26 September 2011

Dear members and guests,
It was another eventful and rewarding night .

The momentum was set off by the opening address by our President Emily Bong, CC. She spoke passionately on the power of belief and the magic of Toastmasters’ Spirit and how they have helped her to venture out of her cocoon. She said “ I am moving out of the ordinary and mundane existence and will be exploring the realm of extraordinary .

TME Siew Tho, CC moved the momentum one notch up with her effervescent personality . She was an amiable host and created an atmosphere of interest and expectation for the audience.

Li Xi Wen, ACG a young, handsome and vibrant, president of TTDI Toastmasters Club was our Humour Master. He entertained us with a string of jibes at infamous traffic jam, corruption and other topical issues. The laughters he garnered from the floor was a testimony that Xi Wen ‘got talent’ and his jokes were funny.

In the table topics session, our Table Topics master, Carolin, ATMB gave us a series of questions related to the power of believing.

1) Do you believe the power of believing? Speaker: Siew Eng
2) Do you have any plan you can execute to achieve what you believe? Speaker: Karen Hee
3) The power of believing versus the law of attraction? Speaker: Alvin
4) The powers of believing in yourself change your life. Speaker: Joann
5) Is believing enough to achieve what you want. Speaker: Saw Bee

All the speakers spoke exceptionally well and each speak gave us some food for thought to bring home.

The best table topics speaker was Saw Bee who injected wit and humour in her impromptu speech . No wonder she was the champion of District 51’s inaugural table topic speech contest .

In the Speech Assignment Session:-

Our 1st speaker, Tammy Lim,TM in her speech titled ‘ One Is Not Enough’ spoke about the many parties organized by her . She held the audience's attention throughout her speech with her vivid details of her parties. Her evaluator Karen Hee gave her a thumb up !

Our 2nd speaker, Ogy Ong,TM was sincere and convincing when she spoke of the wholesome goodness of Banana in her CC speech #7. After her speech , we experienced a shift in our perspective - we would have a greater appreciation for ‘banana’ .Ogy was evaluated by Siok Looi, CC

Our 3rd speaker,Linda Phoon, TM in her CC speech #7 made a clarion call for action -“keep the air we breathe clean” . She was evaluated by Alvin Lim, ACB

Congratulations to Tammy ! She was the best assignment speaker. Her evaluator, Karen Hee could not find any area of improvement for her, as she has fulfilled all the objectives of her CC speech #3 .. Well Done Tammy!

Word of the day –“slather”

Our grammarian, Saw Bee successfully encouraged many in the room to use the word ‘slather’ .

Special thanks to Lee Xi Wen, ACG our General Evaluator. We would take heed of your constructive feedbacks so that we could move Crystal Toastmasters Club to a new level.

Happy  Birthday Karen Hee – our "September baby". Karen is our BIG sister. A lady much admired by all and she is an epitome of graciousness .

All in all , it was a fabulous meeting
