Keynotes for the meeting on 10/10/2011

Dear Crystal Ladies,

Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish

It was a night of tribute to Apple Icon Steve Jobs (1955-2011)

It was night of hunger, hunger for knowledge, hunger for creativity, hunger for excellence...

It was a night where 18 Crystal members and 8 guests were invigorated, galvanized and uplifted by the overwhelming ambiance and atmosphere created by President, TME, role players and speakers.

Our President, Emily Bong, CC delivered an insightful and inspiring opening speech. She spoke about her passion in toastmaster, her commitment for excellence; and her unwavering belief that Crystal would achieve the Passion Drive 1 set by District 51. That night she proudly announced that Crystal Toastmasters Club was one of the three clubs in Division B that has fulfilled all the criteria for PASSION DRIVE 1 and the reward was a new Toastmasters International banner worth US$100.

Our Toastmasters for the evening was the energetic and meticulous Sharon Lum, CTM got meeting moving in precise timing. We were delighted that the meeting started and ended on time in spite of the tight agenda. Bravo and accolades to our efficient and magnificent TME.

Our evergreen and fabulous Tammy Lim was the invocation presenter. She read an extract of the famous inaugural address by Steve Jobs at Stanford University, breathing life into his story about death and capturing and interpreting his intense emotions with her excellent vocal attributes.

We continued our tribute to Steve Jobs in our table topics session. The table topics speakers were:-
1) Ng Siew Tho
2) Chan Siew Peng
3) Yip See See
4) Irene Lee

All speakers spoke exceptionally well as all these topics were closed to their hearts.

Our Table Topics Evaluator, Saw Bee gave us an infotainment. She shared on how to deliver a good table topic. A good table topic speech must answer the question (directly and indirectly), always have an opening (whether prepared or spontaneous) and must end with a ‘bang’ to the question.

In the Assignment Session, 4 speakers:-

1) Nicole Yap – One month old Crystal baby did her ice Breaker speech titled ’Myself’.
Well done! Nicole…..All of us were captivated by how you have overcome all odds to be where you are today. .

2) Casey Cheah spoke on “Z Generation”.

3) Ogy Ong –spoke on “Mathematics of life”

4) Irene Lee – delivered her advanced manual on Public Relations ‘ speech titled “Communication”

We were privileged to have Hong Soon Loong, ACG, as our General Evaluator. He was insightful and very comprehensive in his feedback on the role players and the overall meeting

The results for the role players were:-

The best Table Topics Speaker: Chan Siew Peng
The best Assignment Speaker: Irene Lee

As the conclusion, it was a fun and meaning meeting.
