Crystal TMC Meeting Keynotes 23rd June 2014

MY HEROES & HEROINES
Heroes & heroines are often referred to as a person whom in the opinion of others, has heroic qualities or has performed a heroic act and are normally regarded as a role model or idol for others.
So ladies, who are your heroes or heroines? TME TM Lee Kit Yuen has found her heroines in Crystal Toastmasters Club. What about you? I hope you found yours too.
Thank you TME Lee Kit Yuen for her maiden TME session. She brilliantly brought in this idea in conjunction to father’s day celebration which falls on the third Sunday of June annually.

Our invocation presenter, ACG CL Tan Saw Bee inspired us with her statement on Life is an Echo. Whatever you give, it will come back to you eventually. If you give kindness & goodness, you will get kindness & goodness in return. We must internalise this practice in serving others. If it wasn’t for the kindness act of our past president, Crystal Toastmasters Club will not be as famous compared to now especially for its team spirit & teamwork.
All table topic speakers performed in their best ability to present their statement according to the topics given. This is indeed the best heroic action that we should imitate.
* TM Serene Ting does not wish to have the power of flying without directions.
* Our invited guest Lily described her single mother as her heroine who is caring & selfless.
* DTM Irene Lee does not agree to the statement that a hero is born among a hundred. Instead, she believes that a hero is born every day. In fact, she is still searching for a hero now.
* TM Pei Ying opines that the type of heroes varies in accordance to their age. For example, parents are the heroes for their kids whereas teachers are the heroes for their students.
* ACG ALB Lim Thian Seng wished that he could choose Joker as his superhero so that jovial, laughter & fun will be around.
* ACS ALS Ng Sok Teng still remembers her favourite superhero movie; Superman.

Our first speaker CTM CL Sue Ellen taught us on how to turn your luggage into baggage when going for a holiday. She reminds herself to always travel light, which in turn lightens her heart while travelling. Thank you CTM CL Sue Ellen for her travelling tips.

After returning from travelling, we were confused by TM Matilda’s speech title, in pursuit of the BIG "H". With some hinting and guessing, only then we found out that the BIG "H" actually refers to "Happiness". Happiness is a state of mind, a life satisfaction and fulfillment. She shared with us 3 simple steps in her journey of pursuing Happiness;

1. One must be positive
2. Don't Complain
3. Don't worry, Be Happy
TM Matilda also shared with us a quote from Maya Angelou:
"If you don't like something, Change it. If you can't change it, Change your attitude."
If we want to change things, we must first change ourselves as happiness depends on us. Happiness is a journey, not a destination. Bravo TM Matilda.
Thank you all the evaluators who vividly provide their insightful evaluation to all the speakers. TM Pei Ying appeared to be the record holder for the Best Table Topic Speaker. Congratulations TM Pei Ying.
