Crystal TMC Meeting Key notes -28 Oct 2013

Vivien Seow, ToastMaster of the Evening
“Halloween Celebration”
Yes! We are celebrating Halloween tonight! The celebration gained overwhelming response from all the attendees. Feel free to browse through the photos below and you will know what I meant.
Halloween is celebrated on 31st October every year. It is a popular pagan festival of the dead “Samhain.” People celebrate this day as a spiritual beginning of a new year.
Have you ever wonder why people wear costumes on Halloween? From historical research, the wearing of costume on this day is to scare off ghosts and demons. The main color of Halloween costumes are orange and black in which orange represents the fall harvest and the black represents darkness and death.
Our TME TM Vivien Seow appeared in her Halloween costume that are admired by most ladies. All ladies were busy taking photo with her to have in remembrance on Halloween night.
Our Invocator TM Melanie Kam inspired us with her findings on 128 quotes of goal to success. Whereas our humor master CC Ogy Ong tickle our funny bone with the conflict story between husband and wife.
Karolyn Wong, Table Topic Master

Our Table Topic Master ATMB Karolyn Wong brought in the idea of Chinese Medicine and Chinese Therapies to attract more volunteers on stage. She smartly changed the topic in accordance to volunteer preferences. She generously donated a book entitled to “Paida” &“Lajin” as a gift to the best Table Topic Speaker. Thank you ATMB Karolyn Wong for her generosity.
All the 8 Table Topic Speakers were able to deliver their 2 minutes speech confidently. Bravo to all.
Rachel Tan delivering her ice breaker speech

Our first assignment speaker TM Rachel Tan did her maiden ice breaker entitled “It’s never too late to start.” She marked her starting point with this quote:
“Every Pro was once a beginner, so dream big and start now.”
She brought us through 3 phases of her life journey. We were astonished by her life journey till her retirement from the corporate world and now concentrating on doing her research. As a word of encouragement, she ended her speech with the  below quote:
“Some people succeed because they are destined to, but most people succeed because they are determined to.”
Well said and Bravo TM Rachel Tan.
Esther Then completing her
Persuasive Speaking Project 3

Our second speaker CC Esther Then convinced us by her persuasive speaking project number 3,“Transform Idle Old Building TO Ideal Oriental Backpackers.” She diligently shown us how her company successfully restored and refurbished an old building and transformed it into the new modest attractive building. Unfortunately, she did not push the sales through. She seeks consolation in getting some valuable feedback to further polish her sales presentation skills.

Bernard Louis, General Evaluator

A big applause goes to our Table Topic evaluator ACS ALS Ng Sok Teng for her good time management on evaluating 8 speakers within the allocated time. She kept all speakers informed on their individual strength and weaknesses. All the assignment speech evaluators praised the speakers for meeting the speech objectives, particularly TM Rachel Tan for her stage presence on ice breaker.
Our General Evaluator DTM Bernard Louis noticed that almost all crystal ladies enjoyed themselves in the photo taking session. This is probably how crystal ladies foster their bonds with each other. Before he ends his evaluation session, he suggested that our meeting would have been completed perfectly if we use gavel to call the meeting in order.

Congratulations to our ever new recruited member TM Pei Ying for winning away the best Table Topic speaker. As tradition, a standing ovation was given to Ice Breaker TM Rachel Tan for her first maiden speech. The meeting adjourned with a vote of thanks to all attendees.
