Turning Lead Into Gold


Moving forward to our 2nd meeting with the theme “Turning Lead Into Gold”, our ever pink Jennifer Pan, CC as the TME, conducted another exuberating and memorable evening of a Speech Marathon with 6 enthusiastic Speakers incorporating the word of the evening “Transcend” in their Assignment Speeches.

“Turning Lead Into Gold” is a representation of an alchemy which is a sacred science that involves a magical process of transmutation of lead, which is the most impure metal into gold, which is of the most refined quality.

It is a symbol of human potential.

This metaphor for human transformation was made famous by an international best seller book entitled “the Alchemist” by renowned Author, Paulo Coelho.

Personally, Jennifer relates the journey of toastmasters as a process that parallels the alchemical transformation of lead into gold.

The mission of Crystal TM Club is to provide a platform for women to rewrite their destiny.

Since the Club’s inception in 1998, history has revealed that our Crystals seized every opportunity to transform their lives in every possible way and now after 14 years, some of these ladies can proudly share their success stories, on how the journey of toastmasters, has helped them transcend, and to be where they are at, right now.

Not only have their personal lives transcended but through their continued commitment to excellence, Crystal TM Club has also achieved and maintained the highest award of a President’s Distinguished Club for the last 14 years.

This success speaks volume of the positive attributes and the right attitude of our Crystals especially the 14 past presidents who were the driving force, steering the Club and its dedicated members in the right direction, transcending from ordinary to extraordinary just like the alchemy of turning lead into gold.

We are indeed so blessed to have the core members of at least 10 past presidents who are still so active and who are always ever ready and eager to give all their encouragement and support to us in every single way.

It was an evening of acknowledgement with much gratitude and also to salute all these extraordinary ladies for being here for us.


We believe that with the continuing encouragement and support of the past presidents, our Crystals will undoubtedly push the envelope effortlessly and to experience transcending the moment as we drive Crystal TM Club towards greater heights.

Crystallizing A Dream By Tan Saw Bee ACG CL Past president ( 2000/2001) Crystal Toastmasters Club is an all women club because the founders believed that “ A woman is a full circle. Within her is the power to create , nurture and transform.” Based on that belief the founders crafted a special mission for the club i.e to empower women so that they can rewrite their destiny . It cannot be denied that it would be difficult to achieve this special mission if we were to be a mixed club .
