Keynotes for the meeting 28/11/2011

Ladies and Gentlemen,


A quotation from Sarah Caldwell ”Learn everything you can, anytime you can, from anyone you can - there will always come a time when you will be grateful you did.”

The meeting on 28/11/2011 was a night with opportunity of learning, opportunity of growing and opportunity of sharing.

Members grabbed the opportunity to learn, to grow and to excel in a public holiday.

Yeo Yoke Bee, CTM grabbed the opportunity as the TME. She was impressed with the members turn up - 16 members and 4 guests.

In the meeting, we had a special session. 3 new members were inducted as Crystal members. Mentors were assigned to assist them in preparing for their speech assignments.

A note to all new members “do not hesitate to contact your mentor, grab the opportunity of learning, from preparing your speech to presenting on stage”

To the mentors: Thank you for your contribution in serving as mentors.

The meeting continued with the Speech Assignment Session:-

1st speaker, Jennifer Pan,TM in her speech title: ‘To Do or Not To Do’ spoke about her personal experience on meditation. She was very well structured in her speech with 3 key points. She even made a twist in her closing. Her evaluator Ng Siew Tho, CC was very impressed with her speech presentation.

2nd speaker, Nicole Yap,TM shared with us her “Full Moon Party”. She held the audience’s attention throughout her speech with her vivid details of her parties. We were impressed and wished we were in the party together with her. She was evaluated by Ogy Ong, CC.

3rd speaker, Linda Phoon, TM in her CC speech #9, titled “The Power of Friendship”. A friend in need is a friend indeed! In her opening, she said she has many friends who are willing to offer their help whenever she needed help. For this, she was very glad that she has found a lot of good friends in Crystal. She was evaluated by Vincent Hoh,CC

4th speaker, Michelle Chia, ACB did her advance speech from Speciality Speeches #Assignment 1- Impromptu Speaking. Her speech title: “Save or Invest”. She was so well versed with the subject that she spoke so effortlessly. She was evaluated by Vincent Soon, ALB, ACB.

Our last speaker, Ng Sok Teng, ATMB, CL gave us a small workshop. She did her better speaking series - titled Selecting Your Topic”. She guided us on how to select a topic in the presentation. Well done! Sok Teng. Thank you for sharing with us.

Word of the day –“overwhelm”

We have imported Kwa Ngah Eng, DTM to be our Grammarian for the evening. She was so overwhelmed by the number of members who has used the word of the day.


Our General Evaluator, Tan Saw Bee, ACG commented it was rather difficult for her to give a general evaluation. She felt blessed and impressed by all the Crystal ladies who have given their love and commitment to the Club.

Lastly, we would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the role players from the other Toastmasters Clubs:-

All in all, it was a fabulous meeting.
